Create a new planbook for each school year. Don't reuse last year's by changing its dates.
Keeping one planbook per year means last year's plans stay intact and referenceable — you can switch to them any time from the Planbooks list, which is exactly what you want in October when you're trying to remember how a unit went.
The quickest way
- Click Planbooks in the navigation bar.
- Click Create Planbook.
- Choose to copy your existing planbook.
- Set the new year's Start Date, and check the Previous Start Date.
- Click Copy.
Your old plans are brought across and realigned to the new year's calendar. The details of how entries are matched — and why the previous start date matters so much — are in Copy a planbook.
Starting blank is fine too: choose a new blank planbook at step 3 and set it up as you did the first time.
Then tidy up
Once the new planbook is running:
- Add the new year's off days and holidays. If your school calendar is similar, use Copy From Another Planbook on the Off Days screen.
- Check your periods still match your new schedule.
- Archive last year's planbook to keep the Planbooks list short. Archiving keeps the plans readable — it doesn't delete anything.
Switching between years
Click Planbooks and then the name of whichever planbook you want. Old planbooks stay available indefinitely; see What happens to my plans if I stop paying for what changes if your subscription lapses.
